What Is A Reptile Rover?
Reptile Rovers are a sling-like pet carrier. Our slings come in fun colors and designs, and are made of durable, washable material to protect clothing and owners from tails, claws, and poos. Reptile Rovers slings feature a treat pocket sewn into the side and easily fold up into themselves when not in use. Our products are proudly made in the USA! Also 10% of sales go to animal-tarian efforts such as the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.
Our Story:
Dallas Nurre founded Reptile Rovers at age 11 after adopting a a baby Bearded Dragon named Sandy. Dallas quickly discovered that the available options for reptile transportation—cardboard or plastic boxes—freaked Sandy out because she wanted to be close to him. One day, Dallas put on one of his mom’s scarves because he was cold, and it all clicked—what if he could wear Sandy, keeping her warm and close to his body, in something like a baby sling, but for reptiles?
Sandy loved it, and an idea for a product was born. Soon after, he was accepted into the local chapter of the Young Entrepreneur’s Academy (YEA), which helps groups of middle and high school students take an idea and turn it into a viable business. At the conclusion of the program, Dallas pitched his idea for Reptile Rovers to a panel of investors, taking first place and receiving funding to start the business. Dallas’s ultimate goal is to let people know what wonderful pets reptiles are, and to allow owners to keep their pets close to their heart.
